Rainbow is my favorite color.

Hi! I’m Birgit.

I’m a printmaker, mixed media artist, teacher, product designer and content creator.

I live with my long term love Erik (since 1986) and cat Izzie in Winsum, a village in the north of The Netherlands. We have 3 beautiful kids who all have left the nest and found their own passions and loves in life.

In my free time I love to hit the road together with Erik to discover the most beautiful spots in Europe in our camper van, be surrounded by my family to play games or eat together, or to spend time with my horses.

I have always been creative and graduated in drawing and art history. In my early twenties I took several art classes including sculpting, figure drawing and landscape painting. In 2002 I discovered scrapbooking which gave me an opportunity to combine my passion for photography and being creative. Along the way I fell in love with mixed media, art journaling and gel printing.

My professional creative journey started in 2003 with demoing and teaching for a Dutch craft supply wholesales company, soon followed by craft stores and as a contributor for a variety of (international) scrapbooking and stamping magazines.

Never could I have imagined that my hobby could become my full time job, yet here I am, living my dream!

#RainbowIsMyFavoriteColor;

I LOVE color! But you might have figured that already. I like to combine strong, bold, bright colors and make happy art.

I like to state that, because we have so much rain and cold and gray here in the Netherlands, I need to create my own sunshine through my colorful art.

Paint on my hands, gel printing, experimenting, layering, painted/printed papers, collage, mark making, scribbles, circles and going with the flow make me happy.

Since 2013 I have my own product line with Carabelle Studio for whom I designed stamps, stencils and art printing plates. It was an amazing journey with wonderful opportunities but after 10 great years it was time for me to move on.

I’ve been teaching gel printing classes since 2014 after being given a Gelli Arts gel plate at a craft show the year before. One year later I became a lead brand ambassador for Gelli Arts and have been making tutorial videos, doing live online classes and demos at craft shows for them ever since.

Before Covid I traveled the world to teach gel printing and mixed media classes. I had the privilege to teach in 17 different countries on 4 different continents. During Covid I had to adapt and switched to online (live) classes and to my surprise I really enjoyed doing them.

I never returned to in person classes and am very pleased with the work/life balance I have right now.
